From the Montgomery City Standard, 20 Oct 1952, page 1 column 3:

Mrs. E. L. Allen Dies In Wellsville

Magnolia Elrod, daughter of the late James and Amanda Elrod, was bord July 16, 1867 south of Danville, Missouri and departed this life September 25, 1952 in Wellsville, Missouri at the Knight Nursing Home, at the age of 85 years 2 months and 9 days.

At an early age she professed faith in her Savior and united with the Methodist Church. She was a faithful member and, as long as her health permitted, was a regular attendant at Sunday School and church.

On June 9, 1889, she was united in Holy Matriomony in the Methodist Church in Danville with Edward Lee Allen who preceded her in death March 12, 1949. To this union were born four children: Orpha (Mrs. Henry Ekey), George and Burnace all of New Florence, and Frank, who preceded her in death at the tender age of two years.

She leaves to mourn her passing three children, four grandchildren, four great grandchildren; one brother, James Elrod of New Florence; two nieces: Lucy Elrod and Mrs. Helen Groteweil; one nephew, Merlin Elrod; one sister-in-law, Mrs. Jennie Marlow, and many other relatives and a host of friends.

Funeral services were conducted at New Florence Methodist Church Sunday afternoon by her pastor, Rev. Jon Kirk and burial was in New Florence Cemetery—Hopkins service.

I'm trying to locate Alan Rickhoff so he can see what you've done here. This is his Great Grandmother, too, along with Great Grandfather Allen.

In the obit, it mentions 4 grandchildren left behind. Vivian, Jewel, Vaurene & one other which has to be Burnace's, correct?

That would be the correct assumption at this point. I have completed my initial online pass on both Orpha's and George's family and am next moving to Burnace's family.

I will be posting the information on George Draper Allen and Bertha J. Ekey's family, later today or tomorrow. The genealogy.koen.net website should have the updated data in it by the weekend.

Hopefully, I can make some head way on Burnace's family.

I am almost to the point where I am going to have to go visit the archives to get further. I took a quick trip to the County Library to refamiliarize myself with what they had on Montgomery County, plus they have added the National Genealogical Society collections since I was there last. I was looking primarily for new information around land ownership, but there was some other stuff as well. I decided that once I had a complete picture of everyone from Montgomery County, I would venture back down there. This includes the children and other marriages from all of those relatives in Montgomery County. I am nowhere near ready to tackle that piece.
